ESG as part of
our firm’s DNA

‘’Addressing climate change in our sector is critical given that up to 40% of the annual greenhouse gas emissions across the globe come from the real estate industry. It is time for every major player in real estate to take leadership on the issue and Revetas Capital has taken a very serious commitment to EGS policies, with carbon neutrality as the core of our investment strategy for the future. Real estate is no longer about brick and mortar, but about the impact in our society and giving back to our communities.’’

Eric Assimakopoulos
Founding Partner at Revetas

Revetas Capital is committed to achieving net carbon neutrality across the portfolio by 2040. This initiative starts with an ESG mindset which is embedded in our firm’s investment process and across our businesses, followed by the implementation of the “Net Zero” roadmap in collaboration with a global sustainability leader.

ESG Committee

The Revetas Group has selected an ESG Committee that will supervise the implementation of ESG goals throughout the Group and is a signatory to the UN PRI, the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative. Revetas recognizes the importance of ESG becoming an integral part of the firm’s DNA and is pleased to see that this is already happening through the continued implementation of various innovative ESG solutions across the Group.

Founding Partner

Eric Assimakopoulos founded Revetas in 2012 and serves as Founding Partner for the Revetas Group.

With over 30 years of experience, Eric’s career began in the early 1990’s as the founder of the Gnome Group, a company specialized in designing, building, and establishing the technology data centers which have become so prevalent today. After growing the group and building some of the largest data centers in the world even to this day, he partnered with Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds in the late 1990’s and served as the chairman and CEO of Metronexus, a real estate platform investing $300 million in 300,000 sqm of real estate in the US and Europe.

In 2002, he founded and launched Bifrost, a real estate investment and asset management platform operating in Central and Eastern Europe. Bifrost would also later work closely with the Belgian Ministry of Finance to acquire high quality properties which they leased and would include a sale and leaseback of a 47,500 sqm headquarters building from KKR. Bifrost’s continued success also led to the purchasing of properties from large corporations such as Suez Tractebel group while maintaining strategic partnerships with institutional investment funds such as Patron Capital.

Bifrost would eventually serve as the precursor to Revetas, an entirely vertically integrated group that leverages the expertise Eric has developed over the past 30 years in real estate development, asset management, and investment. As a group, Revetas is an expert in special situations and distressed real estate, reflecting his and his team’s experience across multiple cycles of the business cycle.

Originally from the United States, Eric has been living for over 20 years in France, England, and Slovakia.

#2 Giving back to communities

LEARN MORE ABOUT SOME OF OUR INITIATIVES:

  • Fellowship Day at Revetas
    • In 2021, the Pro Bono Initiative was introduced. The idea is that we dedicate one day every year to our communities and donate our time for a worthy cause.
    • At Revetas, we call it the ’Fellowship Day’ and aim to provide all volunteers one day of paid leave to help.

    • To name just a few of the projects our staff have been involved with in the past: Sponsoring an animal shelter and garden associations, cleaning up the forests and surroundings of our buildings, building birdhouses, caring for animals, planting herbs and plants, supporting an initiative to stop cosmetics testing on animals and much more.
    • We look forward to the future and will keep you posted about our teams’ initiatives in the future.
